Notebook and pen beside a laptop during a study session

Elaborate journals collapse under their own fields. Mentoring clients who arrive with twelve-column spreadsheets rarely fill them after a quiet week. We use a four-block page: context, plan, execution note, and one sentence on emotion without diagnosis.

Context is the higher-timeframe structure in under forty words. Plan names the trigger, invalidation, and size rule. Execution is factual — filled or not, slippage, whether the invalidation was respected. The emotion line is a single observation such as “rushed the mark-up after a gap” rather than a personality essay.

Photograph or export the chart with your lines visible and paste it under the four blocks. Review on Sunday evening for fifteen minutes, not nightly unless you trade full time. The habit matters more than literary quality. Bring two journal pages to your next mentoring block if you want the session to stay concrete.
